UPDATE (9 may) - check The death of the semi colon to see the new improved simpler marker structure (basically, just ignore the : in the examples below)

Currently, to add your data to datatoy.net via twitter you need to use a few markers in your tweets. For example, to register your 2 pints of stella on a friday night you need to tweet:

*beer :2 stella !in the globe

Now obviously it would be better, and more enjoyable for your followers, to simply tweet:

Enjoying a couple of pints of Stella at the Globe

That’ll work sometime soon when the parsing routines get more reliable. But for now - in order to play with the tables and charts monitoring your training or drinking via your usual twitter client just add a * before the collection and a : before the entry. A few examples:

*bike :10Km !windy track your cycle training

*visa :32 amazon !mainly CDs track your spending and get pie chart breakdowns

*visa ?total check your total spend on your visa

*coffee :starbucks !latte monitor that caffeine intake

*lunchwith :jane keep track of your sociable dining

We’ll continue to obey these markers even when the natural language parser is better so you can be 100% sure we’ll catch your data.

Remember to make sure @datatoy is following you before tweeting stuff!
